Working predominantly on the Client side, your work will be split between office and site based duties. You will be expected to take involvement in projects from the start, assisting with the preparation of estimates and costs of the work. Once the project is in progress, your responsibilities will involve keeping track of any variations, valuing the works against progress, assisting in the preparation of cost reports and negotiation of the final account.
You should have a good knowledge of construction methods and materials, be well organised and want a professional level job.
Either recently qualified or working towards a professional qualification, you will have enough experience to be able to visit site and work independently. The role will report to a Company Director, who at the moment take on all aspects of the Quantity Surveying role, in addition to often acting as Contract Administrator, Project Manager and Client Agent. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic person to really kick start their career with a small, but steadily growing consultancy. Projects range from high end residential and commercial new builds, to conservation and listed building works.
A construction related HND, higher degree or similar would be preferable, although discipline is not essential. Experience of using MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook essential; other software of which experience would be useful, but not essential, include: Vector estimating software, NBS Building and NBS Scheduler, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Various PDF editing packages.
Salary will vary depending on experience, but the role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects and sectors with excellent opportunity for progression for the right candidate.
